San Leandro is a Charter City that was incorporated in 1872. It covers 15 square miles and has a population of approximately 82,000.

San Leandro Unified School District: The San Leandro School District consists of 12 schools serving approximately 8,900 students in grades K-12. The District is organized into eight elementary schools (K-5); two middle schools (6-8); one high school (9-12) and one continuation school with an independent study program. In addition, a comprehensive adult education program, the San Leandro Adult School, serves approximately 5,000 people annually.
