Part I: Welcome and Introductions

Keith Carson, Supervisor of Alameda County District 5 and Chair of the East Bay EDA Board of Directors, gave an introduction and overview of the retreat agenda and goals.

 

 

Part II: East Bay EDA Accomplishments: 2010-11

KenMercer

Ken Mercer, Vice President of ValleyCare Health System and East Bay EDA 2nd Vice Chair, gave a review of East Bay EDA's accomplishments in 2010 - 2011.

 

 

Part III: Strategic Priorities

Karen Engel, Executive Director of East Bay EDA, walked through the process to update last year's strategic plan and to identify four key priorities adopted as a short-term work plan.

 

Part IV: Update on Current Priorities

Priorities:

• Expand private sector engagement and membership
• Complete an East Bay Business Climate & Jobs Report and related signature event in Fall 2011
• Develop and begin implementation of a marketing and communications plan for East Bay EDA and for marketing the East Bay
• Engage in state and regional policy and planning in a manner that effectively articulates the East Bay’s economic, business, and job-related interests

Harald Dinter, Vice President of Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals and East Bay EDA Executive Committee Member, talked about expanding private sector involvement and membership.

 

Priority: Business Climate & Jobs

StephenBaiter

Stephen Baiter, Executive Director of Contra Costa Workforce Development Board and East Bay EDA Board Member, talked about the East Bay Business Climate & Jobs Report and a signature event in September 2011 to present key findings from the report.

 

Priority: Marketing & Communications Strategy

Karen Engel and Dan Cohen, Founder of Full Court Press Communications, talked about developing and beginning implementation of a marketing and communications plan for East Bay EDA and for marketing the East Bay.
