annual indicator reports.
Data users are requested to complete
the survey to help us determine our data user's needs and preferences, to
prioritize and improve our data collection, delivery and presentation.

Population
Population growth occurs in a healthy economy and only a recession or disaster will influence migration patterns enough to slow growth. Natural population increase (there are more than two born for every death) results in more than 50,000 new East Bay residents each year. And international migration has and will continue to be a significant contributor to growth - adding another 60 to 80,000 each year.
As a region where growth will undoubtedly continue to occur, the East Bay will need to plan and construct to accommodate growth in a way that will not negatively impact the cost of doing business, the cost of living, and quality of life. The East Bay is home to 35 percent of Bay Area residents.
The East Bay’s population growth and demographic indicators reflect its economic health, tracks current and future trends in employment, housing and the environment, and serves as a gauge for determining the capacity of the region’s infrastructure and public services.
