Resources like water, open space and park lands seem plentiful in the East Bay, with its many reservoirs and lakes, with the San Francisco Bay shore on the west side and the delta on the north - with open space and parks viewable and readily accessible from almost any location in the region. However, water availability is already a development and infrastructure concern, particularly for the Eastern portions of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.
The East Bay is the only place in California with three professional sport franchises: football, baseball and basketball! Season and individual game tickets are available for the Oakland A's, Golden State Warriors, and the Oakland Raiders. All games are played at the Network Associates Coliseum and Oakland Arena, which are easily accessible via BART.

Tracking land use is one way to encourage and monitor efficient development patterns and infrastructure investment. Open space and parks can help regulate air and water quality, provide drainage control and contribute to quality of life for residents and visitors. All of these resources need to be carefully utilized and conserved.
The well-being of a region cannot be measured through economic indicators alone. The number of individuals receiving public assistance benefits and usually increases following lulls in employment. Low birth weight in infants is an indicator of the overall health of both mothers and infants, as well as an indicator of the economy of the region as a whole. Analysis of social indicators broaden the overall picture of a region’s current conditions, revealing areas of success and those where future policy should be focused.
